NEWS
I attempted the Hot Ones challenge at home with ten hot sauces of escalating potency. Sadly, however, despite advertising Scorpion chilli peppers, they were all watered down so much that neither Ed nor I achieved more than a mild blush. Eating my body weight in nuggets, however, was excellent.
Thank for everyone who bought THE BALLAD OF BARNACLE BILL. If you could spend a second to leave a review on Goodreads or Amazon, I’d really appreciate it. Word of mouth really helps us authors, especially self-published ones like me :).
I’m frantically working on the final touches of THE HORROR AT HARGRAVE HALL before it’s sent to my beta readers this weekend. It’s a hard deadline as it is also my mother’s birthday (the author GILLIAN MARY WEBB) so between shenanigans and overeating I won’t have much time to write.
A few dates for everyone
18th January - A new FREE short story, THE ENIGMATIC SKELETON, is released.
1st February - The Horror at Hargrave Hall is released on Amazon!
OUT THIS WEEK
FEAR OF FLYING, by A. E. Deakin. A FREE short story by a friend of mine from the FANTASY WRITERS’ CLUB UK. Fear of Flying is a mind bending horror story that proves that not all fears are unjustified. I really liked the internal monologue, exposing the unreliable narrator breaking down as the anxiety builds up within them. Mini Deaks has a wonderful way of infusing her horror with humanity and humour, making it a joy to read. Amy writes in a variety of genres and it is always a pleasure to hear her narrate her work in our writing meetings. After a few drinks, she is, however, an absolute menace on the karaoke machine. Her personal website with a new FREE story every month is HERE.
THE CANYON OF SE’L HATHORETH, by Ryan Bush. This short story, available to purchase on Amazon, is about as cosmic as it gets. It has a wonderful primal feel to it, exposing the reader to vastly powerful entities while infusing them with enough mystery to leave them wondering what exactly has happened. The historical setting really worked, allowing for a rich backdrop, especially for a short story. The combination of extreme weather, isolation and Native American folklore is a potent combination. Ryan is an American, Christian author from the FANTASY WRITERS’ CLUB UK. He writes both science fiction and fantasy across several genres. I’ve really enjoyed beta reading his work and hearing him read his stories at our weekly meetings. He has his own private website, HERE.
WHAT AM I WORKING ON NOW?
THE HORROR OF HARGREAVE HALL, I’m on the second edit! Yesterday I wrote -1.2k words. So that is magnificent progress :’D.
WHAT'S NEXT?
I’m in negotiations for the book cover for the first collected works of Newton Webb. It features sixteen of my stories.
The debut novel of Newton Webb, NESTOR LYNCH.
TALES OF THE MACABRE, the first compilation of my short stories and novellas.
The next novella - I… I don’t have a title for it yet, despite the fact I’ve written half of it already.
