The Black Fog was originally published self-published as a short story on Amazon, then later on in Tales of the Macabre, Vol. 1.
Ah, The Black Fog. I had no idea what I was doing with Tales of the Macabre, Vol. 1. It was my first collected works, and as a result, it had a raw, unpolished feel to it that gave it a certain intellectual honestly that you might not find in the later stories where I had learnt more about story structure. I’ve written over a hundred short stories now, so there is a lot of experience guiding me.
The Black Fog is set in a fictional town called Grimsdyke. The name comes from a road in the village I grew up in, and the setting was deeply influenced by Hastings. It’s an old coastal town with deep cave systems and a dark history of smugglers, pirates and murder.
